 Today we started with quiet reading.  We changed our book bin books.  We did calendar and we practiced counting in different ways.  We learned a new poem called "My 5 Senses".  We practiced reading it and tracking the words.  We learned about the letter U.  We learned that it is a vowel and it has a short sound and long sounds.  We brainstormed words that. begin with U.  We practiced printing it on our whiteboards and in our printing books.  We drew pictures of things that start with U and we labelled them.  Some of us wrote sentences with U words in them.  We did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds.  In gym we started floor hockey.  We practiced our stick/ball handling skills.  In Social Studies we drew and labelled a picture of our family.  In math we practiced creating and labelling patterns.  Yesterday we started with quiet reading.  We changed our library books.  We did calendar and we practiced adding and subtracting.  We learned about the letter W.  We talked about the sound it makes and we brainstormed words that start with W.  We practiced printing it on our whiteboards and in our printing books.  We drew and labelled pictures that start with W and some of us wrote sentences that have W words in it. We did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds.  In math we worked on the number 12.  We talked about different ways to represent 12 including making addition sentences.  We did a listening game in Science.  We listened to different sounds and tried to identify them.  Today we started with a new book called "My 5 Senses" for our book bags.  We changed our book bin books.  We had a lot of fun with Mr. Weins in music.  We did calendar and we started learning about addition and subtraction.  We did Student of the Day.  We learned that Beth likes to play Mario Cart.  We copied 3 sentences about her and some of us wrote our own sentences.  We printed her name properly and we drew a picture of her for our class books.  We did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds.  We looked at our Shape Monsters that we made last week.  We counted and graphed the shapes that we used.  We started learning about our sense of hearing.  We completed our hearing page in our Super Senses book. Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books (we keep them in our desk).  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we practiced making numbers using ones blocks and tens rods.  We Filled in missing words in our Fall Changes book.   We used our poems to help us spell the words.  We did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds by doing our gumball activity.  In gym we used scooters.  We worked on the number 11.  We got out 11 blocks and we used them to make different number sentences (e.g. 5+6=11).  We practiced printing it and we showed different ways that we can represent 11.  We started talking about our families today.  We shared things we like to do with our family. Yesterday we started with quiet reading.  We did calendar.  We worked on identifying shapes and how many sides and vertices they have.  We learned about the letter M.  We talked about the sound it makes and about words that start with M.  We practiced printing it on our whiteboards and in our printing books.  We drew pictures and labelled things that start with M.  Some of us are being encouraged to try and write a sentence with a word that starts with M in it.  We did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds by doing our gumball activity.  We had gym with Mrs. Sterne.  We started today by changing our book bins and doing quiet reading.  We did calendar and we practiced counting in different ways.  We learned a new poem called "Fall Changes".  We practiced reading it by ourselves and with a partner.  We had our first lockdown practice.  We did a fantastic job!  We did mindfulness after lunch.  We practiced our sounds by doing our gumball activity.  In gym we started some new centers to practice underhand throwing.  We did RazKids and Mathletics on the iPads. Please make sure your child has a small, healthy snack that is separate from their lunch.  If they want to bring Halloween candy, please send only one or two small pieces to be eaten as dessert after they eat their lunch.  Please do not send lollipops/suckers as they take too long to eat or gum as it is not allowed at school.  Thank you.
