 Yesterday we started with quiet reading.  We changed our library books.  We did calendar and we practiced adding and subtracting.  We learned about the letter W.  We talked about the sound it makes and we brainstormed words that start with W.  We practiced printing it on our whiteboards and in our printing books.  We drew and labelled pictures that start with W and some of us wrote sentences that have W words in it. We did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds.  In math we worked on the number 12.  We talked about different ways to represent 12 including making addition sentences.  We did a listening game in Science.  We listened to different sounds and tried to identify them.

Today we started with quiet reading.  We did calendar.  We filled in missing letters in our morning message.  We practiced counting in different ways.  We finished the listening game that we started yesterday.  We learned about how to ask questions when we are reading to improve our understanding.  We wrote in our journals using the sentence starter "I hear". We worked on sounding out words.  After lunch we did mindfulness and we practiced our letters and sounds used sound jars to match sounds.  We had gym with Mrs. Sterne.  In science we did a sound jar activity.  We had to listen carefully and decide if the two jars sounded the same or not.  At the end we listened to see what jars we the quietest and the loudest.  We had our Pillars of Care assembly.  Congratulations to this months winners.  Our winners for this month are:

Care for Self - Mugsy - for choosing a healthy snack before he ate his "treat".

Care for Place - Maya - for consistently helping to keep our classroom clean.

Care for Others - Jace - for working quietly at his desk so others can concentrate.

Care for Learning - Amelia - for working hard on her math and literacy skills at school and at home.

Care for Courage - Beth - for never giving up, even when things are hard.

Parent Teacher Conferences are on Thursday, November 25 from 3:30-7:30pm and on Friday, November 26 from 8:00am to 12:00pm.  You can book at time through your CBE account.  All conferences will take place virtually through Microsoft Teams.  

No school on Friday due to Conferences.

Please remind your child that toys are not allowed at school.  We have had problems with toys getting lost or broken.

Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books (we keep them in our desk).  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we practiced making numbers using ones blocks and tens rods.  We Filled in missing words in our Fall Changes book.   We used our poems to help us spell the words.  We did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds by doing our gumball activity.  In gym we used scooters.  We worked on the number 11.  We got out 11 blocks and we used them to make different number sentences (e.g. 5+6=11).  We practiced printing it and we showed different ways that we can represent 11.  We started talking about our families today.  We shared things we like to do with our family.
