Dec 15

Yesterday we started by watching a Alphablocks video.  We did calendar and we practiced drawing shapes.  We counted the sides and vertices of the shapes.  We did literacy centers.  We had indoor recess since it was so cold outside.  We learned about the letter C.  We talked about the 2 sounds it makes and we brainstormed words that begin with C.  We practiced printing it on our whiteboards and in our printing books.  We drew and labelled pictures and some of us wrote sentences with C words in them.  After lunch we finished our C work.  We played floor hockey in gym and we had another indoor recess.  We wrote our numbers as high as we can go (or filled in missing numbers if we can write our numbers correctly to 100).  We did Mathletics and Raz Kids on the iPads.

Today was pyjama and stuffie day.  We were very excited!  We shared our quiet reading books with our stuffie.  We did calendar and we practiced our song for our carol singing this afternoon.  We did a questioning activity.  Most of us are now able to ask simple questions to help our understanding when reading.  We did literacy centers.  We did Student of the Day.  We learned that Ayyan's favourite animals are tigers.  We copied 3 sentences about him and some of us wrote 1 or 2 extra sentences on our own.  After lunch we did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds.  We had gym with Mrs. Sterne.  We continued to work on our maps of our community.  We did virtual carol singing with the whole school.

Mr Wein's has put together a virtual Winter Concert.  You can access it through the link below starting at 5:00pm tomorrow (Thursday).

Thursday Dec 16th - Plaid Day - Wear anything plaid to school to get in that lumber jack winter vibe.

Friday Dec 17th - Winter break themed - ugly winter break sweaters - dress festive for the start of the holidays!

With the holiday season soon approaching it's important to care for others and give back to those who are less fortunate than us.  This holiday season, Beddington Heights School will be a part of 2 programs that the city of Calgary runs for those less fortunate.
The first program is Loonies for Lunches.  Loonies for Lunches would bring students together to collect loonies to donate to the food bank.  The loonies will be used by the Food Bank to purchase food for our Weekends and More program that makes sure kids get the nutritious food they need on the weekends to stay healthy and learning.
The Mayor's Food Drive is where we collect non-perishable items, i.e. can goods, sealed boxed items, for Calgary's Food Bank.
