April 29

Yesterday we started with quiet reading and catch up time.  We did calendar and we practiced counting in different ways.  We had literacy centers.  We read the end of "The Barnabus Project". We drew and wrote about what happened at the end of the story.  After lunch we did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We had gym with Mrs. Sterne.  We started painting our Creating Colour final project.  We were given yellow, blue and red (primary colours) paint.  We had to mix the colours to make different colours for our painting.    We used a checklist to make sure we had all three primary and secondary colour as well as a tint (lighter colour) and a shade (darker colour) in our painting.  we painted a background for our painting.  We will put it all together tomorrow. April 27

 Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we went to the library to change our books.  We had music with Mr. Wiens.  We did calendar and practiced our shapes.  We read the beginning of "The Barnabus Project.  We drew a picture about what happened at the beginning of the story.  We did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We had gym.  We had literacy centers.  We did Mathletics and RazKids on the iPads.  We also worked on our fact families. Today we started with quiet reading.  We did calendar and we practiced our shape songs.  We had literacy centers.  We read the middle of the book "The Barnabus Project".  We drew what happened in our journals.  After lunch we did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We had gym.  In math we learned about triangular prisms.  We counted how many flat/curved faces, edges and vertices it has, as well as if it can roll or stack.  We cut and glued together a triangular prism for us to bring home to show you. 

April 25

Yesterday we started with quiet reading and catch up time.  Those students who were not here on Wednesday did their basic facts test. We did calendar and literacy centers.  We got to choose between two sequencing stories to write.  We put the pictures in order and wrote sentences for each one using: first, then, next and last.  We did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We had gym.  We are playing parachute games.  In math we learned about square based pyramids.  We counted how many flat/curved faces, edges and vertices it has, as well as if it can roll or stack.  We cut and glued together a square based pyramid for us to bring home to show you.  We continued to work on fact families.  Yesterday we started with catch up time (science and math) and quiet reading.  We also changed our library books.   We did calendar and we practiced our 2D and 3D shapes.  We had literacy centers.  We did a predicting activity.  We looked at a picture and predicted what we though would happen next.  We did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We had gym with Mrs. Sterne.  We did Mathletics and RaxKids on the iPads. Yesterday we started with catch up time (math).  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We went and worked with the Artist in Residency.  We did calendar and we had literacy centers.  After lunch, we did mindfulness and changed our home reading books.  We played Bellyball in gym.  We did our April Sit Spot activity and we wrote about our observations.   We did Mathletics and RazKid on the iPads. Today we started with catch up time (math) and quiet reading.  We did calendar and we had gym.  We had literacy centers and we had our word review.  Please check your child's backpack to see how they did.  We talked about our favourite things about the  school art project.  We drew a spring picture.  We drew at least one thin the plants, animals and people do in the spring.  We will complete this work on Monday.

April 6

 Yesterday we started with catch up time (math).  We changed our library books.  We did calendar and talked about what signs of spring we have seen outside.  We had literacy centers.  We did another sequencing activity.  We put 3 pictures in order and then we wrote about them using "first", "then" and "last".  We did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We played Bellyball in gym.  We used some non-fiction books to make a chart showing what animals, plants and people do in the spring. This week we will be taking part in an "art residency" program!  Each class will work on part of a large mural for the school.

Yesterday we started with quiet reading.  We did calendar and we did our March weather graph.  We had literacy centers.  We did a making words activity.  We used the letters i, r, s, p, g, n to make 2, 3, 4 and 5 letter words.  We made the "secret word" that uses all the letters (spring).  After lunch we did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We had gym with Mrs. Sterne.  W did our basic facts test.  We did two guided drawing videos of flowers.  We chose which one we wanted to do for a card for Mrs. Paolini's family.
