June 8

Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books.  We did calendar and we practiced counting in different ways.  We had literacy centers.   We wrote about what plants and animals need to grow and survive.  After lunch we did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We had gym with Mrs. Sterne.  We are playing kickball.n We wrote our numbers to 100 for the last time in grade one.  We did some building challenges using our Lego.  We learned about building a solid base.  

Today we started with quiet reading.  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we practiced making patterns.  We had literacy centers.  We wrote about what we are optimistic about for the summer for our school wide smudge tomorrow. After lunch we did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We had gym.  We did one final bean plant observation.  We are bringing our plants home today.  We did Mathletics and RazKids on the iPads.

 Yesterday we started by watching a Alphablocks video.  We did calendar and we practiced drawing shapes.  We counted the sides and vertices of the shapes.  We did literacy centers.  We had indoor recess since it was so cold outside.  We learned about the letter C.  We talked about the 2 sounds it makes and we brainstormed words that begin with C.  We practiced printing it on our whiteboards and in our printing books.  We drew and labelled pictures and some of us wrote sentences with C words in them.  After lunch we finished our C work.  We played floor hockey in gym and we had another indoor recess.  We wrote our numbers as high as we can go (or filled in missing numbers if we can write our numbers correctly to 100).  We did Mathletics and Raz Kids on the iPads. Today was pyjama and stuffie day.  We were very excited!  We shared our quiet reading books with our stuffie.  We did calendar and we practiced our ...

Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books (we keep them in our desk).  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we practiced making numbers using ones blocks and tens rods.  We Filled in missing words in our Fall Changes book.   We used our poems to help us spell the words.  We did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds by doing our gumball activity.  In gym we used scooters.  We worked on the number 11.  We got out 11 blocks and we used them to make different number sentences (e.g. 5+6=11).  We practiced printing it and we showed different ways that we can represent 11.  We started talking about our families today.  We shared things we like to do with our family.
