 How is it June already???

Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books.  We did calendar and we practiced patterns.  We had literacy centers.  We did a writing activity about Mr. Hebert.  We did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We practiced underhand throwing in gym.  We graphed our May weather.  We did Mathletics and RazKids on the iPads.

Today we started with a writing activity.  We could write in our journals about whatever we wanted.  We wrote at least 3 sentences. We did calendar. We had literacy centers.  We did a making words activity.  We had the letters a, e, e, h, i, p, n, t.  We made 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 letter words.  We made the "secret word" using all the letters.  We did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We had gym with Mrs. Sterne.  We worked on a word problem in math.  We used the "I do, we do, you do" strategy.  First Mrs. Young does a problem, then we do one together, last we do one on our own.  We did a bean plant observation.  Our plants are so big!

We are doing our Teacher's Pet in school field trip on Thursday.  Please make sure you have returned your child's form and have paid for this activity!

Friday is Sports/Play day.  Students will be outside all morning.  Please make sure they are dress for the weather and are wearing running shoes (no sandals please!!).  Please make sure your child is ready to be out in the sun (sunscreen applied before they come to school, hat, water bottle, etc.).  This should be a fun day!

 Yesterday we started by watching a Alphablocks video.  We did calendar and we practiced drawing shapes.  We counted the sides and vertices of the shapes.  We did literacy centers.  We had indoor recess since it was so cold outside.  We learned about the letter C.  We talked about the 2 sounds it makes and we brainstormed words that begin with C.  We practiced printing it on our whiteboards and in our printing books.  We drew and labelled pictures and some of us wrote sentences with C words in them.  After lunch we finished our C work.  We played floor hockey in gym and we had another indoor recess.  We wrote our numbers as high as we can go (or filled in missing numbers if we can write our numbers correctly to 100).  We did Mathletics and Raz Kids on the iPads. Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books (we keep them in our desk).  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we practiced making numbers using ones blocks and tens rods.  We Filled in missing words in our Fall Changes book.   We used our poems to help us spell the words.  We did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds by doing our gumball activity.  In gym we used scooters.  We worked on the number 11.  We got out 11 blocks and we used them to make different number sentences (e.g. 5+6=11).  We practiced printing it and we showed different ways that we can represent 11.  We started talking about our families today.  We shared things we like to do with our family.
