May 4

Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books. We did calendar and we

practiced our shapes. We had literacy centers. We wrote about how the main character in The

Barnabus Project (Barnabus) changed from the beginning of the story to the end. We did

mindfulness and we changed our home reading books. We had gym outside. We finished our

Creating Colour paintings and our self evaluation of our work. We did Mathletics and RazKids

on the iPads.

Today we started with catch up time (writing and art). We did calendar and we had literacy

centers. Our stories today focussed on feelings and how to deal with them (for Hats on for

Mental Health day). We started talking about designing our own "perfect pet" like in The Barnabus

Project. We will be "building" our pets next week or the week after. Please talk to your child about

what recyclables they might need to build their pets. Please send any extras you may have

that other children may be able to use (e.g. empty boxes, paper towel rolls, string, scrap paper,

fabric, etc. After lunch we did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books. We had gym with Mrs.

Sterne. We learned about the Zones of Regulation. There are 4 zones. They are the green zone

(happy, calm, etc - this is where we want to be), the blue zone (sad, tired, sick, etc), the yellow zone

(frustrated, silly, etc.) and the red zone (angry, out of control, etc.). We learned different strategies

to help us get back to the green zone when we are in the other zones. We had an assembly where

we got to listen to the band from Sir John A, MacDonald junior high.
