Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books.  We had music with Mr. Wiens.  We did calendar and we practiced our 3D shapes.  We had literacy centers.  We did a making words activity. We used the letters: a, a, i, i, m, n, s to make different words.  We used all the letters to make a secret word.  After lunch we did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We had gym.  We did our basic facts test.  We learned about the parts of a plant and what they do.  We cut and glued parts of a plant together and we labelled them.

Today we started with catch up time (math and science).  We did calendar and we had literacy centers.  We read the book "17 Things I'm Not Allowed To Do Anymore".  We talked about our connections to the book.  We wrote about things we are not allowed to do.  After lunch we did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We had gym.  We did a bean seed observation.  In math we used marshmallows and toothpicks to make 3D shapes.  We will bring them home to show you.

Word review is tomorrow.

We sent home a permission slip for your child to participate in the Teacher's Pet Program that will be coming to our class on June 2.  Please sign and return the form as soon as possible.  The cost of this program is $6.00 (Thank you to Parent Council for subsidizing this program).  Please pay through your CBE PowerSchool account or you can pay by debit in the school office.

 Yesterday we started by watching a Alphablocks video.  We did calendar and we practiced drawing shapes.  We counted the sides and vertices of the shapes.  We did literacy centers.  We had indoor recess since it was so cold outside.  We learned about the letter C.  We talked about the 2 sounds it makes and we brainstormed words that begin with C.  We practiced printing it on our whiteboards and in our printing books.  We drew and labelled pictures and some of us wrote sentences with C words in them.  After lunch we finished our C work.  We played floor hockey in gym and we had another indoor recess.  We wrote our numbers as high as we can go (or filled in missing numbers if we can write our numbers correctly to 100).  We did Mathletics and Raz Kids on the iPads. Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books (we keep them in our desk).  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we practiced making numbers using ones blocks and tens rods.  We Filled in missing words in our Fall Changes book.   We used our poems to help us spell the words.  We did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds by doing our gumball activity.  In gym we used scooters.  We worked on the number 11.  We got out 11 blocks and we used them to make different number sentences (e.g. 5+6=11).  We practiced printing it and we showed different ways that we can represent 11.  We started talking about our families today.  We shared things we like to do with our family.
