April 6

 Yesterday we started with catch up time (math).  We changed our library books.  We did calendar and talked about what signs of spring we have seen outside.  We had literacy centers.  We did another sequencing activity.  We put 3 pictures in order and then we wrote about them using "first", "then" and "last".  We did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We played Bellyball in gym.  We used some non-fiction books to make a chart showing what animals, plants and people do in the spring.

Today we started with quiet reading.  We did calendar and we practiced our 2D and 3D shapes.  We had literacy centers.  We used re-read the book "This is How I Know" and used it to write write about ways we know it's Spring.  We did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We had gym with Mrs. Sterne.  We continued practicing subtraction using a ten frame.  We took part in the Artist in Residency activity.  We painted a tile as part of the school mural.

 Yesterday we started by watching a Alphablocks video.  We did calendar and we practiced drawing shapes.  We counted the sides and vertices of the shapes.  We did literacy centers.  We had indoor recess since it was so cold outside.  We learned about the letter C.  We talked about the 2 sounds it makes and we brainstormed words that begin with C.  We practiced printing it on our whiteboards and in our printing books.  We drew and labelled pictures and some of us wrote sentences with C words in them.  After lunch we finished our C work.  We played floor hockey in gym and we had another indoor recess.  We wrote our numbers as high as we can go (or filled in missing numbers if we can write our numbers correctly to 100).  We did Mathletics and Raz Kids on the iPads. Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books (we keep them in our desk).  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we practiced making numbers using ones blocks and tens rods.  We Filled in missing words in our Fall Changes book.   We used our poems to help us spell the words.  We did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds by doing our gumball activity.  In gym we used scooters.  We worked on the number 11.  We got out 11 blocks and we used them to make different number sentences (e.g. 5+6=11).  We practiced printing it and we showed different ways that we can represent 11.  We started talking about our families today.  We shared things we like to do with our family.
