April 13

 Yesterday we started with catch up time (science and math) and quiet reading.  We also changed our library books.   We did calendar and we practiced our 2D and 3D shapes.  We had literacy centers.  We did a predicting activity.  We looked at a picture and predicted what we though would happen next.  We did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We had gym with Mrs. Sterne.  We did Mathletics and RaxKids on the iPads.

Today we started with quiet reading.  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we practiced our shapes.  We had literacy centers.  We did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We had gym.  In math, we learned about fact families.  We learned that addition and subtraction problems are related.

Did you know that on April 12, 1980, Terry Fox travels to Outer Cover Beach to collect two bottles of Atlantic seawater. He plans on keeping one as a souvenir, and pouring the second one in the Pacific Ocean when he arrives home, but the blustery ocean carries one out to sea.

Volunteers are now allowed in the school!  We will be doing an in school field trip on June 2nd.  We will need volunteers for this activity.  You will need volunteer clearance in order to volunteer.  Please contact the office to get your volunteer clearance.  It can sometimes take a while so please complete it as soon as possible.

 Yesterday we started by watching a Alphablocks video.  We did calendar and we practiced drawing shapes.  We counted the sides and vertices of the shapes.  We did literacy centers.  We had indoor recess since it was so cold outside.  We learned about the letter C.  We talked about the 2 sounds it makes and we brainstormed words that begin with C.  We practiced printing it on our whiteboards and in our printing books.  We drew and labelled pictures and some of us wrote sentences with C words in them.  After lunch we finished our C work.  We played floor hockey in gym and we had another indoor recess.  We wrote our numbers as high as we can go (or filled in missing numbers if we can write our numbers correctly to 100).  We did Mathletics and Raz Kids on the iPads. Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books (we keep them in our desk).  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we practiced making numbers using ones blocks and tens rods.  We Filled in missing words in our Fall Changes book.   We used our poems to help us spell the words.  We did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds by doing our gumball activity.  In gym we used scooters.  We worked on the number 11.  We got out 11 blocks and we used them to make different number sentences (e.g. 5+6=11).  We practiced printing it and we showed different ways that we can represent 11.  We started talking about our families today.  We shared things we like to do with our family.
