 Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books.  We did calendar.  The date was 2-22-22.  We started a time capsule that we can open on 3-3-33.  We will be in grade 12!  We also worked on this project in the afternoon.  We will bring it home today.  Please see the attached letter for more information and for ideas of what you can add to it at home.  We did literacy centers and we have new word wall words.  They are:

Group A - she, are, book, name, little ("book" and "name" have word families)

Group B - are, name, book, live, have, little ("book" and "name" have word families)

Group C - sleep, cheese, cheerful, squeeze, weekend

Group D - Rr, Hh, you, play, the, we

Our word review will be on Friday.  We had gym and we did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.

Today we started with catch up time (time capsules).  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we learned about pink shirt day.  We talked about what bullying is and what to if we are being bullied or if we see someone being bullied.  We did an activity where we crumpled up a piece of paper then we tried to smooth it out.  We said "sorry" to our paper but we noticed that we couldn't get it to be smooth again.  This activity was to show us that unkind words can have a lasting impression on someone, even if we say sorry.  We also talked about how we all can make mistakes and when we do we should admit our mistake, apologize (and mean it) and see if we can fix it or make it right. We did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We had gym and we had literacy centers. We made a flip book with some strategies we can use when we are adding.  We learned a colour poem.

 Yesterday we started by watching a Alphablocks video.  We did calendar and we practiced drawing shapes.  We counted the sides and vertices of the shapes.  We did literacy centers.  We had indoor recess since it was so cold outside.  We learned about the letter C.  We talked about the 2 sounds it makes and we brainstormed words that begin with C.  We practiced printing it on our whiteboards and in our printing books.  We drew and labelled pictures and some of us wrote sentences with C words in them.  After lunch we finished our C work.  We played floor hockey in gym and we had another indoor recess.  We wrote our numbers as high as we can go (or filled in missing numbers if we can write our numbers correctly to 100).  We did Mathletics and Raz Kids on the iPads. Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books (we keep them in our desk).  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we practiced making numbers using ones blocks and tens rods.  We Filled in missing words in our Fall Changes book.   We used our poems to help us spell the words.  We did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds by doing our gumball activity.  In gym we used scooters.  We worked on the number 11.  We got out 11 blocks and we used them to make different number sentences (e.g. 5+6=11).  We practiced printing it and we showed different ways that we can represent 11.  We started talking about our families today.  We shared things we like to do with our family.
