Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books.  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we practiced subitizing.  We did a making words activity.  We cut out 7 letters (a, c, c, h, r, s, t).  Mrs. Young guided us through making different small words by moving or changing 1 letter.  At the end there was a secret word using all the letters.  After lunch we did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We had gym then we did literacy centers.  We practiced adding using a number line.  In science we brainstormed colours and started talking about primary colours (red, yellow, blue) and secondary colours (green, purple, orange).

Today we started with catch up time (math) and quiet reading.  We did calendar and we did a number of the day.  We did the number 27.  We talked about what number is one more, one less, ten more and ten less.  We showed it on a number line, and in ten frames.  We had literacy centers.  We did our last Student of the Day.  We learned that Sophia likes the colour purple.  We copied three sentences about her and wrote two of our own.  We drew a picture of her and wrote her name properly on the printing road.  We will add this page to our Class Books.  After lunch we did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We practiced our sounds.  We continued doing curling in gym.  Some of us are very good at getting the "rock" in the "house".  We did our basic facts test.  We did Mathletics and RazKids on the iPads.

No school Feb. 17th and 18th - Teacher's Convention.

 Yesterday we started by watching a Alphablocks video.  We did calendar and we practiced drawing shapes.  We counted the sides and vertices of the shapes.  We did literacy centers.  We had indoor recess since it was so cold outside.  We learned about the letter C.  We talked about the 2 sounds it makes and we brainstormed words that begin with C.  We practiced printing it on our whiteboards and in our printing books.  We drew and labelled pictures and some of us wrote sentences with C words in them.  After lunch we finished our C work.  We played floor hockey in gym and we had another indoor recess.  We wrote our numbers as high as we can go (or filled in missing numbers if we can write our numbers correctly to 100).  We did Mathletics and Raz Kids on the iPads. Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books (we keep them in our desk).  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we practiced making numbers using ones blocks and tens rods.  We Filled in missing words in our Fall Changes book.   We used our poems to help us spell the words.  We did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds by doing our gumball activity.  In gym we used scooters.  We worked on the number 11.  We got out 11 blocks and we used them to make different number sentences (e.g. 5+6=11).  We practiced printing it and we showed different ways that we can represent 11.  We started talking about our families today.  We shared things we like to do with our family.
