Yesterday we started with quiet reading and catch up time (math).  We did calendar and we practiced counting in different ways using our 100 chart.  We had literacy centers.  We were very excited to go outside for recess!  We did Student of the Day.  We learned that Ava likes to eat pizza.  We copied 3 sentences about her and some of us wrote our own sentences.  We drew a picture of Ava and we wrote her name properly on the printing road.  We will add our work to our class books.  After lunch we did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books. We continued practicing adding using pictures.  We started our snowflakes to add to our medicine wheel of the seasons.  We did them the same way that we did our snowflakes last week.  We coloured a small coffee filter with water soluble markers and then we spayed them with water and watched the colours mix.  We will finish them tomorrow.

Today we had gym first thing this morning.  We did gymnastics stations.  We did quiet reading and catch up time.  We did calendar and we practiced counting in different ways.  We did literacy centers and we had our word review.  Please check your child's backpack to see how your child did.  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We finished our snowflakes and added them to our medicine wheel.  We had a fire drill.

Please continue returning your child's home reading book as much as possible.  The more they read, the better readers they will be.

 Yesterday we started by watching a Alphablocks video.  We did calendar and we practiced drawing shapes.  We counted the sides and vertices of the shapes.  We did literacy centers.  We had indoor recess since it was so cold outside.  We learned about the letter C.  We talked about the 2 sounds it makes and we brainstormed words that begin with C.  We practiced printing it on our whiteboards and in our printing books.  We drew and labelled pictures and some of us wrote sentences with C words in them.  After lunch we finished our C work.  We played floor hockey in gym and we had another indoor recess.  We wrote our numbers as high as we can go (or filled in missing numbers if we can write our numbers correctly to 100).  We did Mathletics and Raz Kids on the iPads. Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books (we keep them in our desk).  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we practiced making numbers using ones blocks and tens rods.  We Filled in missing words in our Fall Changes book.   We used our poems to help us spell the words.  We did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds by doing our gumball activity.  In gym we used scooters.  We worked on the number 11.  We got out 11 blocks and we used them to make different number sentences (e.g. 5+6=11).  We practiced printing it and we showed different ways that we can represent 11.  We started talking about our families today.  We shared things we like to do with our family.
