Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we got new library books (we keep them in our desks.  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we practiced counting in different ways.  We did Student of the Day.  We learned that Addison likes strawberry ice cream.  We copied 3 sentences about her and some of us wrote our own sentences.  We drew a picture of Addison and we wrote her name properly on a printing road.  We will add our page about Addison to our class book.  After lunch we did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds.  We had gym.  We had literacy centers.  In math we showed how we skip count by 2's, 5's and 10's on a 100 chart.  We practiced counting using the 100 charts.

Today we started with quiet reading.  We did calendar and we used our 100 charts to practice counting in different ways.  We had literacy centers.  We used the sentence starter "I know it's winter because" to write sentences about winter.  In math we learned how to add using pictures.

Please help your child to remember to return their home reading book.

 Yesterday we started by watching a Alphablocks video.  We did calendar and we practiced drawing shapes.  We counted the sides and vertices of the shapes.  We did literacy centers.  We had indoor recess since it was so cold outside.  We learned about the letter C.  We talked about the 2 sounds it makes and we brainstormed words that begin with C.  We practiced printing it on our whiteboards and in our printing books.  We drew and labelled pictures and some of us wrote sentences with C words in them.  After lunch we finished our C work.  We played floor hockey in gym and we had another indoor recess.  We wrote our numbers as high as we can go (or filled in missing numbers if we can write our numbers correctly to 100).  We did Mathletics and Raz Kids on the iPads. Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books (we keep them in our desk).  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we practiced making numbers using ones blocks and tens rods.  We Filled in missing words in our Fall Changes book.   We used our poems to help us spell the words.  We did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds by doing our gumball activity.  In gym we used scooters.  We worked on the number 11.  We got out 11 blocks and we used them to make different number sentences (e.g. 5+6=11).  We practiced printing it and we showed different ways that we can represent 11.  We started talking about our families today.  We shared things we like to do with our family.
