Yesterday we started with quiet reading.  We did calendar and we practiced identifying and making patterns.  We had literacy centers.    We worked on our last letter.  It is the letter q.  We talked about it's sound and that "where there's a q, theres always a u".  We brainstormed words that start with q and we practiced printing it on our whiteboards and in our printing books.  We drew pictures of things that start with q and we labelled them.  Most of us wrote sentences with q words in them.  We did balances with a partner in gym.  In Science we started an art project.  We use washable markers and coloured a coffee filter.  We sprayed them with water and watched as the colours mixed.  We will cut them into snowflakes when they are dry.  In math we worked on sorting.  We decided if we would sort by colour, size, shape, number of sides or number of vertices.  We used shapes and glued them into the categories by our sorting rule.

Today we started with catch up time (sorting) and quiet reading.  We did calendar and we practiced subitizing.  We  had literacy centers and we had our word review.  Please see your child's backpack to see how they did.  Please continue practicing all your child's words regularly.  We cut our coloured coffee filters into snowflakes.  We made routines with a partner in gym.

 Please sign and return your child's home reading form.  We will start home reading on Monday.

We have a number of children coming to school without a mask.  Please make you your child has at least one mask with them everyday.

 Yesterday we started by watching a Alphablocks video.  We did calendar and we practiced drawing shapes.  We counted the sides and vertices of the shapes.  We did literacy centers.  We had indoor recess since it was so cold outside.  We learned about the letter C.  We talked about the 2 sounds it makes and we brainstormed words that begin with C.  We practiced printing it on our whiteboards and in our printing books.  We drew and labelled pictures and some of us wrote sentences with C words in them.  After lunch we finished our C work.  We played floor hockey in gym and we had another indoor recess.  We wrote our numbers as high as we can go (or filled in missing numbers if we can write our numbers correctly to 100).  We did Mathletics and Raz Kids on the iPads. Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books (we keep them in our desk).  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we practiced making numbers using ones blocks and tens rods.  We Filled in missing words in our Fall Changes book.   We used our poems to help us spell the words.  We did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds by doing our gumball activity.  In gym we used scooters.  We worked on the number 11.  We got out 11 blocks and we used them to make different number sentences (e.g. 5+6=11).  We practiced printing it and we showed different ways that we can represent 11.  We started talking about our families today.  We shared things we like to do with our family.
