Today we started with quiet reading.  During quiet reading, Mrs. Young is doing guided reading with small groups.  We had music with Mr. Weins. We did calendar and we practiced counting in different ways. We talked about things we see in the winter.  We wrote 5 sentences using the sentence starter "I see".  We did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds.  We continued doing gymnastics in gym.  In math we worked on comparing objects and describing them (e.g. my pencil is longer than my eraser).

Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we went to the library to get a new library book.   We did calendar and we practiced counting in different ways.  We had literacy centers.  We learned about the letter X. We talked about the sound it makes and we brainstormed words that have an X in them.  We practiced printing it on our whiteboards and in our printing books.  We drew and labelled pictures of words that have an X in them and some of us wrote sentences that have those words in them.  After lunch we did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds.  We had gym with Mrs. Sterne.  In math we worked on sorting shapes by how many sides they have.  In Science we started learning about what plants, animals and people do in the winter.
