If you have not signed your child into our Google Classroom, please do so.  If you need your child's Gmail address and password, please email me.

Today we started with quiet reading and we changed our book bin books.  We did calendar and we practiced subitizing (knowing the number of objects without counting).  This month's extra pillar of care is wisdom.  Today we talked about how indigenous cultures value wisdom and how they pass it on through the Elders.  We also talked about how indigenous people gain wisdom from the land.  It tells them things like,  when the seasons will change and it provides all they need to survive.  We did literacy centers and we did word work.  We have new word wall words.  They are:

Group A: we, went, for, day, play ("we" and day/play" have word families)

Group B: for, red, yes, he, day, play ("red" and day/play" have word families)

Group C: while, whisper, awhile, anywhere, who

Group D: Mm, Gg, go, me

Our word review will be on Friday.  Please help your child practice their words.  We chose our first home reading book today during mindfulness.  We did gymnastics with Mrs. Sterne in gym.  We did our basic facts test and we did Mathletics and Raz Kids on the iPads.

We are bringing home our first Home Reading book today (if we have returned the permission form - if you have not returned it I have given your child a new form that should be in their backpack).  Please read the instructions that are in the home reading folder and have fun reading with your child.  Please make sure you sign the recording sheet when your child is finished reading.  Home reading books should be returned at least twice a week but can be returned everyday if you want!

Government provided masks and rapid test kits are coming home today.

Sometimes the disposable masks don't fit the children's faces very well.  Here is a video that shows a way to make them fit better and it makes them more comfortable for the kids (because they are not constantly slipping).
