Today we started with quiet reading and we changed our book bin books.  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we practiced naming shapes and identifying how many sides and vertices they have.  We did litercy centers and we have new word words.  They are

Group A - in, it, my, go, like ("in", "it" and "like" have word families)                                                        Group B - in, it, is, my, go, like ("in", "it" and "like" have word families)                                                  Group C - they, thing, brother, mother, earth                                                                                                Group D - Ss, Tt, to, I

Our word review will be on Friday.

We played floor hockey in gym.  We did a Google Maps tour of our community (Beddington Heights).  We listed things that are in our community (restaurants, grocery stores, schools, etc.).  We are drawing a map of our community labelling the different things.

Wednesday Dec 15th - Pyjama/Stuffie Day.  Children may wear their pyjamas and bring a stuffie.  Please make sure that the stuffie is small enough to fit in their backpack.

Thursday Dec 16th - Plaid Day - Wear anything plaid to school to get in that lumber jack winter vibe.
Friday Dec 17th - Winter break themed - ugly winter break sweaters - dress festive for the start of the holidays!

With the holiday season soon approaching it's important to care for others and give back to those who are less fortunate than us.  This holiday season, Beddington Heights School will be a part of 2 programs that the city of Calgary runs for those less fortunate.
The first program is Loonies for Lunches.  Loonies for Lunches would bring students together to collect loonies to donate to the food bank.  The loonies will be used by the Food Bank to purchase food for our Weekends and More program that makes sure kids get the nutritious food they need on the weekends to stay healthy and learning.
The Mayor's Food Drive is where we collect non-perishable items, i.e. can goods, sealed boxed items, for Calgary's Food Bank.  Both programs start this Monday to Dec 14th.
