Yesterday we started by finishing our fall leaves for our medicine wheel.  We also worked on finishing our healthy food/treat sorting and our "Look at Me" books.  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar.  We did Student of the Day.  We learned that Jessica likes to eat strawberry ice cream. We practiced printing her name properly and we copied three sentences about her.  We drew a picture of Jessica for our Class Book.  We did stations in gym.  We did Raz Kids on the iPads.

Today we started with making Halloween Counting books.  We had our Pillars of Care assembly.  Congratulations to this months winners.  They are:

Care for Others: Ayyan - When Ayyan’s partner fell in the gym, he immediately went over to him and asked if he was ok.

Care for Learning: Jessica -  Jessica works hard to complete all tasks to the best of her ability.  

Care for Place: Micah - Micah often asks to sweep our class to make sure it is clean.

Care for Self: Ibrahim - Ibrahim knew to make sure he was safe by not going after a ball that had gone into the street.  He went and got his teacher instead of running out to get it.

Pillar of the Month:  Benjamin - Ben was honest about how many times he could catch a bean bag on a racket in gym.  He even set a goal for himself and was honest about whether or not he achieved his goal.


We did calendar and we made a graph with October's weather.  We did a skeleton art project.  We wrote about things our skeleton likes. 

Picture proofs went home yesterday.  They can be returned by Nov. 8 if you are not ordering online.

 Yesterday we started by watching a Alphablocks video.  We did calendar and we practiced drawing shapes.  We counted the sides and vertices of the shapes.  We did literacy centers.  We had indoor recess since it was so cold outside.  We learned about the letter C.  We talked about the 2 sounds it makes and we brainstormed words that begin with C.  We practiced printing it on our whiteboards and in our printing books.  We drew and labelled pictures and some of us wrote sentences with C words in them.  After lunch we finished our C work.  We played floor hockey in gym and we had another indoor recess.  We wrote our numbers as high as we can go (or filled in missing numbers if we can write our numbers correctly to 100).  We did Mathletics and Raz Kids on the iPads. Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books (we keep them in our desk).  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we practiced making numbers using ones blocks and tens rods.  We Filled in missing words in our Fall Changes book.   We used our poems to help us spell the words.  We did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds by doing our gumball activity.  In gym we used scooters.  We worked on the number 11.  We got out 11 blocks and we used them to make different number sentences (e.g. 5+6=11).  We practiced printing it and we showed different ways that we can represent 11.  We started talking about our families today.  We shared things we like to do with our family.
