Sept. 15

 Yesterday we started with quiet reading.  We did calendar and we practiced sorting.  We practiced counting and we practiced the days of the week and the months of the year.  We did Student of the Day.  We learned how to print Mugsy's name properly and we learned that Mugsy likes cheetahs.  We wrote two sentences about Mugsy and we drew a picture of him for our class book.  In math we worked on printing the number 2 properly (it is hard!).  We showed different ways to represent the number 2.  

Today we started with quiet reading and calendar.  We practiced counting by 1's and by 10's.  We worked on the letter B.  We listened to and watched some letter B videos.  We brainstormed words that start with B.  We practiced printing the letter on our whiteboards and in our printing book.  We drew pictures of things that start with B and we labelled them.  In math we worked on AB and ABC patterns.  We started a pattern book.  We wrote about how we show Care for Self for our medicine wheel.

 Yesterday we started by watching a Alphablocks video.  We did calendar and we practiced drawing shapes.  We counted the sides and vertices of the shapes.  We did literacy centers.  We had indoor recess since it was so cold outside.  We learned about the letter C.  We talked about the 2 sounds it makes and we brainstormed words that begin with C.  We practiced printing it on our whiteboards and in our printing books.  We drew and labelled pictures and some of us wrote sentences with C words in them.  After lunch we finished our C work.  We played floor hockey in gym and we had another indoor recess.  We wrote our numbers as high as we can go (or filled in missing numbers if we can write our numbers correctly to 100).  We did Mathletics and Raz Kids on the iPads. Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books (we keep them in our desk).  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we practiced making numbers using ones blocks and tens rods.  We Filled in missing words in our Fall Changes book.   We used our poems to help us spell the words.  We did mindfulness and we practiced our sounds by doing our gumball activity.  In gym we used scooters.  We worked on the number 11.  We got out 11 blocks and we used them to make different number sentences (e.g. 5+6=11).  We practiced printing it and we showed different ways that we can represent 11.  We started talking about our families today.  We shared things we like to do with our family.
