 Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our library books.  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we practiced our 2D and 3D shapes.  We had literacy centers and we practiced our word wall words.  We had mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We had gym.  We played a subtraction game in math.  We continued to learn about Spring. We ended up having a long conversation about a number of Spring related topics.  Things like: the cherry blossoms in Japan, the pyramids in Mexico (related to the Spring/Fall equinox) and how tadpoles change into frogs (and where does their tail go?).   Today we started with quiet reading.  We did calendar and we practiced subitizing.  We had literacy centers.  We did a sequencing/writing activity.  We put three picture in order then we wrote sentences starting with "first", "then", "last".  We did mindfulness and we changed our home reading b...

 Welcome Back!  I hope everyone had a fun Spring Break! Today we started with quiet reading and we changed our book bin books.  We did calendar and we practiced counting in different ways.  Today we practiced counting by 100's !!!  We did literacy centers and we did word work.  We have new word wall words.  They are: Group A: one, two, come, yellow, year ("year" has a word family) Group B: here, her, his, there, but, eat ("eat" and "but" have word families) Group C: train, snail. complain, rainbow, again Group D: Qq, Uu, look, up, went, see Our word review will be on Friday.  We did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We had gym with Mrs. Sterne.  We worked on subtracting using a number line in math.  We talked about the signs of spring and we listened to some stories about spring.

 Yesterday was St. Patrick's Day.  We started with quiet reading and catch up time.  We did calendar.  We watched the Jump Rope for Heart event day video.  We had literacy centers.  We did a making words activity.  We used the letters i, c, k, r, s and t to make 2, 3, 4 and 5 letter words.  We used all the letters to make the secret word.  After lunch we did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We did a mindfulness sit spot outside.  When we came in we drew a picture of what we could see, hear, feel or smell and wrote about it. We learned about the order of colours in the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple).  We made our own rainbows by using ripped paper.  We did a St. Patrick's Day graph and/or a St. Patrick's Day word family activity when we were finished. Today we started by finishing our rainbows.  We had our Pillars of Care assembly.  Our winners this month are: Care for Others...

 Yesterday we started with quiet reading and we changed our home reading books.  Some of us worked on catching up on our math.  We did calendar and practiced our 2D and 3D shapes.  We had literacy centers.  We continued to write about our family.  We used the sentences starters "My family likes" and "My family can".  We did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We painted a colour wheel by mixing colours.  We played a math card game with a partner.   Today we started with quiet reading and catch up tome.  We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar and we had literacy centers.  We worked on our writing about our families.  We had mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We did Mathletics and Raz Kids on the iPads. Mr. Hebert should be sending an important email to all parents tonight.  Please read it and talk to your child about it. Yesterday we started with quiet reading and catch up time.  We went to the library and changed our home reading books.  We did calendar and we watched the Jumprope for Heart kickoff video (we will do Jump Rope for Heart next week in gym).  We had literacy centers.  We practiced our predicting skills.  We used a picture to practice predicting what might happen next.  After lunch we did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We had gym.  In math we learned how to use blocks to help us subtract.  We did chromotography in science.  We used a coffee filter and drew a dot on it.  We sprayed it with water to see what colours are in the colour black.  We will let it dry and write about it tomorrow. We had music with Mr. Weins.  We did calendar (Happy March!) and we practiced subtizing.  We started a writing activity.  We wrote sentences starting with "I am" and "I have".  After lunch we did mindfulness and we changed our home reading books.  We practice ball skills in gym.  We had literacy centers.  We had a lockdown practice.  Our class did a fantastic job!  In math we started subtraction using pictures.  We continued to talk about primary and secondary colours in Science.
